Leaving on a Jet Plane (or Two or Three)

I don't think I should write blogs the night before I leave on a trip. I always end up saying something that either makes people freak out or makes them ask a lot of questions, and then I just leave it hanging. Part of me wants to do that now just to be annoying. I shall try to refrain from doing that this time. No guarantees, though.

Even worse, I'm all jittery. Everything is packed and ready, but I keep thinking I've forgotten something or worrying that I've packed all the wrong things. My mother is here to see me off, so she keeps me from really going off the deep end. It's still utterly annoying.

There are so many things I have yet to do. I'm fast approaching the point where it won't matter anymore, and I'm stuck with things the way they are.

Rawr.

I get the urge to do that every so often. I know. It's weird.

Will I sleep tonight? Should I bother trying? Our flight from New York to Tokyo is 14 hours. I don't sleep well on planes.

I had a really good conversation today with a very good friend. It was about something I've been thinking about for a while, but haven't wanted to really address because I'd have to do something about it. I think that when I get back, I'll be ready to explore things further.

And there goes that promise about not being cryptic.

Oops.

If you're wondering why this is all over the place, it's because I keep leaving it and coming back to it. This whole thing was probably written over a period of four hours.

I'm ready for this trip.

Right?

Of course.

It's cliche, but I like this song. So here you go.

April's Radio Spot

This is a fun radio spot we're airing in April. I participated as vocal coach and stunt scream double.

If you know anyone associated with a radio station who might be interested in playing our spots, please let me know. We're looking for new stations and a wider audience.

I packed my camera equipment last night. That stuff is heavy.

Something New

So I need a microphone or something to cut down on the background noise. And I need to dress for the occasion next time. (I really did go to church this morning. I just changed into my pajamas first thing when I got back.) But other than that, I think it went quite well for a first video.

Let me know what you think.

Please be aware that if I actually post this blog, it will have been heavily edited.

I'm tired. I am so achingly weary right now, down to my soul.

I did try to warn you.

Next time I challenge the world, please remind me that I'm leaving the country in a week and tell me to shut up.

Thanks.

The Gauntlet

Find more artists like Celtic Thunder at Myspace Music

This song isn't usually the sort of thing I listen to (far too perky for my usual tastes), but my dear friend Arika posted it on her blog, and I liked it. Mostly because it's Friday, I'm happy, it's finally feeling like Spring outside and I refuse to let anything bring me down from this high.

Okay, world. Gauntlet thrown. Bring it on.

Wow. A lot has happened since my last post. I'll try to cover as much ground as possible.

First, I know you've all heard about the earthquake and subsequent tsunami in Japan. OMS does have missionaries there along with dozens of nationals and churches. We've been updating people about the OMS side of things via the OMS Facebook page, so keep an eye on that for news. It is a horrible situation, and my heart is heavy as I continue to read more on CNN and watch the footage.

I need to switch gears. Okay.

On the 4th of this month, my body decided to fall apart. I got really sick for about three days, missed two days of work, and was generally miserable all of last week. I'm marginally better now, but it was quite ridiculous.

In the midst of this, I had to drive my parents to the airport. They went to Jamaica (without me!) for the 60th National Conference of churches. I picked them up last night.

Work has been nuts. Three of our people in Communications are traveling (separately), so the rest of us have been trying to hold down the fort. I'm having a terrible time actually getting things done, though. (Probably because I keep getting distracted by blogging.) Anyway.

One thing I encountered last week at work is worth mentioning. I had to print some brochures, which then required cutting, and for the first time, I got to play with the cutting machine at work. I say play because this thing is quite the power trip. Fortunately, the operation of the machine makes it difficult for you to actually cut off body parts.

Yeah. That was fun.

Finally, I'm leaving the country in 16 days. I'll talk more about it when I get back, but I am incredibly excited about this trip! I'm also nervous (first time to this particular area of the world) and trying to get a ton of stuff done before I leave.

So. That's life right now. Keep checking back. And don't forget about the Facebook page.

Two Things...

First, I may have mentioned to some of you that I'm taking a trip in April. I won't mention where I'm going for security reasons, but I'm having some visa issues, so please be praying for that.

Second, I got bit by a spider or something (I didn't see the actual creature) a couple of weeks ago, and the bump from that has not gone away. Furthermore, the area around the bite has become very tender and itchy, and when I press on it, I feel a sharp pain that radiates like a deep tissue bruise. I've not done anything about it, and I'm still hoping it goes away, but I'm also hoping that it doesn't get any worse.

It looked worse before, but it really is quite painful. Also, it's right on the knuckle, which makes it ten times worse. The picture really doesn't do it justice.

That is all.
